Customer SAVE
REAL Services' customers are engaged in producing manufacturing power, distribution, instrument, and specialty transformers.

REAL Services' LTC3 pioneered a Revolutionary and truly Predictive / Proactive testing methods and data interpretation for determining the operational heath and integrity of Electrical Transmission & Distribution Equipment.  Rather than simply testing Insulating Oil Condition; NOW Transformers, Load Tap Changers (LTC), Oil Filled Circuit Breakers (OCB), Voltage Regulators and other T&D Equipment Condition & Reliability can be monitored, trended and quantified.; provided by REAL Services along with our exclusive SAVE REPORT which provided Return On Investment and Cost Justification or your T&D PM Program.

Electrical Transmission & Distribution

Case Study # 83

These results are obtained, by REAL Services' LTC3 patented testing procedure, from a first time sample.  550CS Load Tap Changer Filter; MG550CS-LTC-FM; is one of the single most active LTC in this western metropolitan area.

Recommendation: Consider schedule this unit for maintenance action. Specifically, CHECK spring tension for excessive pressure on contacts. FILTER lubricant to remove Filming & Coking compounds.

Tank #2 Visual inspection of contacts after 12,434 operations,  notice the contact erosion from dirty fluid.  Notice the discoloration of the contacts, “Filming” is a by-product of the polymerization of insulating oil.  This Filming compounds shows Carbon residue (Coking) embedded in the matrix of the Filming compound.

Note: This was a FIRST time this equipment has been tested.

Upon opening of 550CS Load Tap Changer; MG550CS-LTC-FM, contacts show a high concetration of Filming compounds.  Equipment show signs of Coking and indications of burning of insulating fluid.  Both the Filming compounds and Coking inhibit proper electrical conduction and typically increases power levels.

Secondary Damage, Property Damage and Service Interruption was avoided.  Downtime was minimized.  Maintenance scheduled performed and service routed through secondary unit.

LTC3 optimized equipment performance and savings for the utility, customers and investors.
