synthetic rubber


is any any petrochemical-based elastomer. Like natural rubber, synthetic rubbers are polymers, consisting of a series of simple molecules, called monomers, linked together to form large chain-like molecules. The chain forms a loose coil that returns to its coiled form after it is extended.
