petrolatum


is a semi-solid, waxy hydrocarbon, pale to yellow in color, composed primarily of high-molecular-weight waxes; used in lubricants and rust preventives. Derived from dewaxing of high-viscosity base oils, such as bright stock.  Also called Petroleum jelly, vaseline, petrolatum or soft paraffin.
