Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA)

is the U.S. statute, amendment to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA), administered by the EPA. The statute defines industry and governmental responsibilities and requirements for emergency planning and public information regarding hazardous chemicals. It establishes the public’s "right-to-know" about SARA-listed chemicals in the community and workplace. It requires emergency notification procedures, reporting of chemical inventories and toxic chemical release, and emissions inventories.
