scale wax

is a soft, semi-refined wax, distinguished from slack wax by having a generally lower oil content; usually derived from slack wax by extracting most of the oil from the wax. Used in candle manufacture, coating of carbon paper, and in rubber compounds to prevent surface cracking from sunlight exposure.
