paraffin wax


is a petroleum-derived wax usually consisting of high-molecular-weight normal paraffins; distinct from other natural waxes, such as beeswax and carnauba wax (palm tree), which are composed of high-molecular-weight esters, in combination with high-molecular-weight acids, alcohols, and hydrocarbons.
