naphthene
are
hydrocarbon characterized by saturated carbon
atoms in a ring structure, and having the general formula CnH2n; also called
cycloparaffin or cycloalkane. Naphthenic lubricating oils have
low pour points, owing to their very low
wax content, and good solvency properties.
