Application Notes:

askarel

is the generic term for a group of synthetic, fire-resistant, chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons used as electrical insulating liquids. Gases produced in an askarel by arcing conditions consist predominantly of noncombustible hydrogen chloride, with lesser amounts of combustible gases. Manufacture of askarels has been discontinued in the U.S. because of their toxicity.
