Aniline Point and Mixed Aniline Point of Petroleum Products and Hydrocarbon Solvents


The sample of oil or hydrocarbon is mixed with aniline and heated until the two phases become miscible.  Upon cooling, the temperature at which the two phases separate is recorded.  In general, the aniline point is most often used as an estimate of aromatic content.
