gassing tendency


is the measure of an electrical insulating oil’s ability to absorb hydrogen under electrical stress, as determined by ASTM-D-2300B. An oil that evolves hydrogen has a positive gassing tendency, which is undesirable, since hydrogen can be hazardous under certain conditions.
