Application Notes:

flame propagation

is the self-sustaining burning of fuel after heat of combustion has been reached. Many fire-resistant hydraulic fluids — though they can be made to burn if subjected to sufficiently intense heat — do not generate sufficient heat of combustion of themselves to continue burning once the external source of heat is removed.

Also see fire-resistant fluids.
