Application Notes:

azeotrope

is a liquid mixture of two or more components that boils at a temperature either higher or lower than the boiling point of any of the individual components. In refining, if the components of a solution are very close in boiling point and cannot be separated by conventional distillation, a substance can be added that forms an azeotrope with one component, modifying its boiling point and making it separable by distillation.
